If you can’t become the next Elon Musk, at least you can smell like him. The SpaceX Store is now offering a men’s cologne called Rocket Man, designed to capture the essence of Elon.
The product was born of a most unlikely process, led by SpaceX Olfactory Sciences Director Franz von Holzhausen. Previously skilled exclusively in metals and electronics, Franz had to shift his thinking from factory floor to fragrance design.
“Elon does not wear cologne himself,” Franz said, “but he does have a distinct scent. He leaves a wake as he walks through our hallways. The challenge was to distill that scent into a bottle.”
To do that, Franz’s team interviewed hundreds of employees who have worked closely enough with Musk to get a good whiff. Their descriptions led to the development of a fragrance that smells remarkably like The Man himself.
Early customer reviews on X indicate that Franz hit the nail right on the head.
