For some people, posting misinformation on X comes naturally. For others, it can be a challenge. Leave it to the champion of free speech, Elon Musk, to make misinformation easier for all of us.
Starting today, the X platform unleashes the long-rumored X Artificial Misinformation tool (XAM). It is available free of charge to make even the craziest posts seem perfectly believable. Based on Musk’s Grok technology, XAM allows posters to mislead, misdirect and totally twist legitimate news.

Here’s how it works. First, compose a post that defies logic and credibility. (Example: “Hunter Biden revealed as Hillary Clinton’s love child.”) Then click the new XAM button above your post. Your post will instantly be “legitimized,” citing nonexistent facts and sources. For a small fee, a Plus button will add an image to augment believability.
Of course, misinformation is only useful if it spreads. So Elon’s XAM technology automatically attaches the three most relevant hashtags, ensuring that your misinformation is exposed to tens of thousands of users who are determined to believe.
Elan’s post today said it all: “With XAM at your fingertips, free speech will be even freer. Let’s spread the news—or something that sounds like it.”
